What You Do Matters!

Say NO to Plastic Bags:

  • Over 500 billion plastic bags are used annually.
  • Less than 1% get recycled. Why? It costs more to recycle a bag than to produce a new one.
  • Plastic bags photodegrade and break down into toxic petro-polymers which contaminate soils and waterways and can enter our food chain.
  • Bags end up in the sea via drains and sewer pipes and kill nearly 200 different species of sea life, including whales, dolphins, seals and turtles.

So What Can You Do?

  • Use a cloth bag. That saves 6 bags per week; 24 a month; 288 a year; 22,176 over your lifetime*
  • If 1 out of 5 people did this, we would use 1.33 trillion fewer plastic bags over our lifetime*!

*Over a human lifespan of 77 years.
