As Quoted in Metropolis Magazine
“I predict New Orleans will be the
classic canary in the coal mine. The lessons learned (or not learned)
there as we rebuild the storm surge barrier can and should be translated
elsewhere.” …WENDI

What Our
People Are Up To
Jane Rowan, PWS, LEED AP, Director of
Ecological Solutions
Jane just completed her 3-year
tenure as president of the American Water Resource Association. "Jane's
leadership and vision for the organization propelled us forward,
refreshing our approach to technical committees, building connections
between and among other like-minded groups, and skillfully championing a
multidisciplinary approach to water resources management during her
tenure as president." Said Kenneth D. Reid, CAE, Executive President, American Water
Resource Association.
Wendi
Goldsmith, CPG, CPSSc, Chief Executive Officer
Wendi participated in a meeting
at The White House to discuss "Improving the Workplace through Smarter
Work/Life Policies" representing the National Women's
Business Council, which is an advisory panel to the US President and
Congress on economic issues important to women business owners.
Featured in the meeting were Bioengineering Group's whole-person
policies for telecommuting, flexible schedules, exercise in the workday,
and wholesome office snacks and meals which support healthy staff and
allow them to balance family obligations without guilt and career fear —
all while translating into loyalty and profitability. |
What You Do Matters!
Say NO to Plastic Bags:
- Over 500 billion plastic bags are used annually.
- Less than 1% get recycled. Why? It costs more to recycle
a bag than to produce a new one.
- Plastic bags photodegrade and break down into toxic
petro-polymers which contaminate soils and waterways and can enter our
food chain.
- Bags end up in the sea via drains and sewer pipes and
kill nearly 200 different species of sea life, including whales,
dolphins, seals and turtles.
So What Can You Do?
- Use a cloth bag. That saves 6 bags per week; 24 a
month; 288 a year; 22,176 over your lifetime*
- If 1 out of 5 people did this, we would use 1.33
trillion fewer plastic bags over our lifetime*!
*Over a human lifespan of 77
years. |
