Architect/Ecological Designer, Salem, MA
Contracts with the United States Army Corps of Engineers in Katrina devastated New Orleans have created multiple opportunities for Engineers interested in working on hurricane protection infrastructure and coastal restoration. Projects will involve slope stability, seepage analysis, levee and floodwall design, bridge and road design, site civil design, and more. What makes these positions special is Bioengineering Group’s interdisciplinary design process and attention to the long-term sustainability of the sites we work on. While much of this work is in New Orleans, we are also increasing our headquarters staff in Salem, MA to support this effort.
Requirements
include:
- Bachelor’s
degree, Master’s degree
is a plus;
- 2-5
years experience with an EIT OR
5-8 years
experience with a PE in civil,
structural, geotechnical and mechanical engineering;
- Experience
with permitting is a
plus;
- Experience
with marketing and
public outreach is welcome;
- Strong
analysis, design, and report
writing skills;
- Ideal
candidates will be trained
and experienced in project management;

Engineering Branch Coordinator, New Orleans, LA
We are seeking a senior level Civil Engineer to serve as our Engineering Branch Coordinator for the Gulf South Region who will work as a key collaborator within an interdisciplinary design team, and provide supervision and guidance for junior level engineers. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working closely with the VP of Engineering and Gulf South Region, the responsibilities of this position include hiring, mentoring and managing engineering staff, coordinating staff availability and assignment; professional development of engineering staff, providing technical oversight of project work and to assure the firm has depth in both engineering skills and knowledge in the Gulf South Region.
Requirements include:
- Must
be a PE, preferably licensed in Louisiana, but if not, must be eligible
to
obtain a Louisiana PE.
- Bachelor's
or Master's
degree from an
accredited program and ten years experience.
- Successful
candidates will have strength in personnel management, mentoring, and
innovative project practices.
- Experience
working on hurricane protection (levees, floodwalls) and/or flood
control
projects is desired.
- Prior
experience working with the USACE is a plus.
- Experience
marketing and public outreach is welcome.

Microstation Operators – New Orleans, LA
We have multiple opportunities for Microstation Operators to support our Engineering design staff working on hurricane protection projects such as levees, floodgates, hydraulic structures, roadways, and bridges. Ideally, those selected for this position will be capable of using Inroads modeling software, US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) CSV and other USACE specific engineering and design software, and have a working knowledge of large earthwork project requirements.
Requirements
include:
- Technical training (BS degree preferred, but not required);
- Proficient with Microstation Version V8, including the use of multiple levels, previously established form parts, and attachment of aerials and raster images;
- 3-7 years of experience within the engineering design and construction industry or a related gov’t agency;
- Familiar with structural detailing, both concrete and steel;
- Capable of drawing a layout with minimal input (hand sketches and notes) from design engineers;
- Capable of computing quantities manually or via software.

Right of Way and Utility Relocation Specialist, New Orleans, LA
The objective of this position is to plan the relocation of roads and utility lines. This involves the initial research, such as obtaining drawings, survey’s and relevant information from stakeholders, helping define project scope, developing maps and cost estimates, obtaining independent technical reviews and coordinating project meetings.
Requirements Include:
- Experience
with drafting, planning, and/or engineering of linear corridors such as
roads,
levees, rivers, pipelines
- Good
communication and people skills
- Working
knowledge of maps, plans, and site engineering practices
- Engineering
degree is a plus
- Microstation
drafting experience a plus

Requirements include:
- BS Degree in a related field

Designer position. We
look for
individuals who have an interdisciplinary background working with
engineers,
ecologists and earth scientists on problems related to stormwater and
watershed
management, low impact land development, park and greenway development,
coastline/stream/wetland restoration, stream bank stabilization and/or
highway
corridor projects. Requirments include:
- Bachelor's or
Master's degree in
Landscape Architecture.
- 2-5 yrs of
experience with a proven
track record of working with commercial or government clients as part
of a
project team.
- Strong GIS
skills
- Experience with
permitting is a
plus, and experience with marketing and public outreach is always
welcome.
- Successful
candidates will have
strength in design graphics, and/or report writing.
- Ideal
candidates will have some
experience and/or interest in project management.
- LEED
certification is a plus.
The
job will require extensive GIS
modeling, some fieldwork for the purposes of site assessment,
construction
supervision, project monitoring, and public outreach. Some travel may
be required
to address project needs.
